For 12 or 13 years starting in 2000, the web site Milfordpictures.com collected some great pictures of our hometown.  One feature of the web site was a guestbook where people who visited could leave comments.  Though this is no longer an active guestbook, the information contained had so many entries and so many names and memories that we thought it would be a good piece of Milford History.  Enjoy!

It was fun to see pictures of where my grandmother Frances Dutton and my great grandparents John and Francise (Young) Dutton lived.

Thank you so much for doing this! I need to scan some pictures to add to the riches here, because every time I look, I feel I should be contributing.

This is a wonderful treasure for our community.

Sincerely,

Jean Locicero Shankle

I was born and raised in that wonderful town. My dad used to work at beretto granite for many years. I moved away 19 yrs ago and live in sc now but I am still a true yankee . I was up there towards the end of january and was surprised with all the changes the town has gone thru. It truely didnt look like the town that I called home for many years but I still miss it alot

LaughingNice website.  My dad told me about it, but I kept forgetting to look it up.  Fond memories of growing up in Milford.  Wished my own children could have grown up in Milford, but alas, I was living in Massachusetts at the time.  Grew up on North St. and then moved to West St.  Was living in Colorado with my family when our house was torn down to make way for the Rite-Aid.  I remember the Labor Day parades and then going to the carnival that night.

On the spring picture from Mont Vernon to Milford - yes! That is still there. It's actually fenced off now. My father remembers his family stopping there to fill up jugs of water on family trips before it was fenced.

I was visiting Milford this summer and was wondering what happened to the Methodist Church next to the post office. My husband and I were married there 25 years ago by Rev. Huntley Halvorson. We lived in Milford for several years before retiring to Florida.

When I was a kid, before Rt. 101 existed, we had to go through Milford and Manchester on our long trek to Maine. Somewhere between Milford / Manchester, there was a gas station that had a huge doll house next to it, looked like a colonial mansion. Does anyone remember that?

Enjoyed the pictures. Going to Milford tomorrow to dig up Garrity ancestors. They came to Milford from County Sligo around 1835 and by the turn of the century, my line had moved to Worcester MA for some interesting reasons. Would love to hear from other Garrity family members.
I left MA in 1989 and now live in Rye NH.

Thanks for posting all these great class photos- I can identify lots more folks from Mrs. Gendron's 1st grade class (and others) in the '60s (I was in the front/middle)- I also have an unripped photo of that class and others, with numerous Milford photos that I'd love to share when I can find the spare time- great to see everyone out there again!
