Spring Has Arrived!!!
Saturday April 9th and Sunday April 10th – 2:00PM to 4:00PM each day. At the Carey House Museum, 6 Union Street in Milford
The Milford Historical Society is pleased to feature the Milford Garden Club in our Extraordinary Neighbors exhibit. They’re celebrating their 90th anniversary this year. Spokesperson Carolyn Cline will talk with you about the club as well as explain the organizations dedication to Milford’s youth programs. Chatting about gardening feels perfect for this time of year and Carolyn will help answer questions you may have regarding your own landscaping ideas.
Other Extraordinary Neighbors:
- An amazing story detailing how a local organization founded by Diane Varney-Parker called “The Milford Middle School’s Recycling Club” was able to reduce 20 bags of school trash weighing 209 lbs. down to 7 bags weighing 121 lbs. at their first “Trash On The Lawn Day”. An event resulting in fewer trash dumpsters and a savings of $300 a month.
- The Hutchinson Singers Memorial Group. The Historical Society has a room dedicated to our famous Milford group of the mid 1800’s. Concert goers attending their events numbered in the thousands in America and Europe. The quartet brought the message of abolitionism to more Americans than any of the most eloquent speakers ever could.
The Children’s Corner: an adorable display of vintage children’s clothing, games and toys in our museum will have you saying awwwww!
Also featuring a display of current and vintage promotional artifacts from local business including narratives from business owners explaining, in their own words, why they went into business. And check out the newly updated barn…. impressive. Spend a little time with us and relive the good old days of Milford’s past.
