For six decades, Hayward’s Trading Post has been a beloved shopping destination. Art and Libby Hayward (now Libby Drolet) opened the Milford Motor Motel in 1963, and just two years later, in March of 1965, they launched their next venture right next door—Hayward’s Trading Post. The business quickly outgrew its original space, prompting expansions in the late 1960s and again in 1976. Today, nearly 60 years on, Libby Drolet continues to run what is proudly known as the “World’s Largest Moccasin Shop” on Elm Street in Milford.
