This home at 77 Elm Street was built by Milford’s first pastor, Humphrey Moore, in 1820.  The home still stands today and sits across from the entrance to West Street.  In the mid-19th century, the main hallway of the home was wallpapered with scenic French wallpaper that became very well known.  The famous colorful antique wallpaper was sold and removed in 1930 by a collector from Boston.  We’re not sure if it still exists in someone’s collection.  This post card image highlights the numerous Elm trees that once lined the street named for them!
