Description

Only occasionally is it possible to scan the history of a town’s early years through the eyes of one who witnessed events as the unfolded and wrote down his impressions.  David Goodwin Jr. was a 35-year-old Milford farmer in 1846 when he started to record local happenings that seemed to him of historical interest.  Month after month, year after year, he jotted down his observations.

Found at an area flea market 140 years later, Fred Kimball of Milford recognized its historical importance and made it available for publication by the Milford Historical Society.  This is the printed version of the Goodwin notebook, started in 1846.  In a flap at the back is a facsimile of the original journal, together with its author’s maps and sketches.
